About the Journal

Focus and Scope

eJIM, the eJournal of Indian medicine, is a multidisciplinary periodical founded in 2007 by Jan Meulenbeld (1928 - 2016) and Roelf Barkhuis that publishes studies on traditional South Asian medical traditions by qualified scholars in philology, medicine, pharmacology, botany, anthropology and sociology. Authors from India, Sri Lanka and adjoining countries are cordially invited to contribute.

eJIM specifically encourages original approaches with fresh perspectives and daring methodologies to discussions in the abovementioned fields.

eJIM does not publish:
- pharmacological articles without accompanying clinical studies
- ethnobotanical articles without a discussion of medical uses and healing rationalities.

eJIM is an Open Access publication and makes no charge either to authors or to readers. All articles and the Archives can be accessed without registration. Registered users, however, will be notified by email on publication of an issue of the journal, new books, or news items.

The counterpart of eJIM is ABIM, the Annotated Bibliography of Indian Medicine, maintained by Jan Meulenbeld. See the link ABIM, top menu, right.

Peer Review Process

The review process is kept simple and short.

Submissions will be either accepted or rejected. Individual members of the editorial board may veto a submission because it does not meet expected scholarly standards.

Articles will be accepted or rejected within four weeks after submission. We strive to publish accepted papers within six weeks after acceptation. This, in combination with our Open Access Policy, will allow us to quickly and widely disseminate scientific work.

The publisher and the editors and eJIM adhere to the international standards for editors as published by COPE. See the section PoliciesPublication Ethics and Publication Malpractice further below.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Reader Registration

We encourage readers to sign up for the publishing notification service for this journal. This registration will result in the reader receiving the Table of Contents by email for each new issue of the journal. This list also allows the journal to claim a certain level of support or readership. See the journal's Privacy Statement, which assures readers that their name and email address will not be used for other purposes.
