Samenvatting

This article outlines the transmission of the story of the two lovers Floire and Blanchefleur in 15th and 16th century Denmark. As the earliest conserved Danish translation, the story appears in a Danish manuscript from the end of the 15th century (Codex Holmiensis K 47), in a collection of six chivalric romances. Quite soon after the production of the manuscript, in 1504 (and again in 1509), the story also was printed by Gotfred af Ghemen in Copenhagen, figuring as one of the earliest printed romances in Danish at all. The article describes and analyses some special textual phenomena in the Danish translations (both in the manuscript and in the early prints) and patterns of “Retextualisierung” (Joachim Bumke).
