Religiosity in Ecclesial and Non-Ecclesial Funeral Rites. Exploring Whitehouse’s Modes of Religiosity

Abstract

The goal of this article is to explore the characteristics of religiosity in the Dutch ecclesial and non-ecclesial ritual field. In 2002 only 56 percent of funerals in the Netherlands were held in church and, even though this percentage is still dropping, there is a great need for ritual in these transitional periods in life.
