Samenvatting

The animal bones found in the Tjonger river area in the 20th century are discussed. Most of them are of wild animals. Radiocarbon dates and the antler artefacts among the material point to elk (Alces alces) hunting during the late Palaeolithic (Allerød), red deer (Cervus elaphus) antler pro­cessing during the early Mesolithic and the mid Neolithic, aurochs and red deer hunting during the late Mesolithic, domestic cattle (Bos taurus) husbandry during the middle Neolithic and horse (Equus caballus) rearing during the late Middle Ages/early recent period.
