Abstract

(p. 268)

In this paper the results will be discussed of the examination of charred seeds and fruits from a medieval settlement near Gasselte, province of Drenthe, in the north of the Netherlands (fig. 1). About 500 m to the west of the village of Gasselte traces of ten farmsteads came to light during excavations carried out by the Biologisch Archaeologisch Instituut in 1975-1977. An excavation report of this settlement site was published by Waterbolk and Harsema (1979) from which the foliowing has been derived.
