Abstract

Remains of fur animais make up a considerable part of the bone material of Swifterbant and Hazendonk, two Neolithic sites in the Central and western Netherlands. In this article an attempt is made to give a reconstruction of the way in which the species were exploited. In this connection the age and sex distribution of the hunted populations are discussed, as well as the analysis of the skinning and butchering traces.
